the state of kuwait prize for research on health care and health promotion for the elderly was established by the world health organization to reward individuals, institutions and social organizations that have made outstanding contributions to research on health care and health promotion for the elderly. the award by the chinese geriatrics society is also the first time that the world health organization has awarded the award to a social organization in china.

as a national society, the chinese geriatric society has always adhered to the concept of positive aging and healthy aging, and is committed to geriatric research innovation and health promotion for the elderly. the society and the national clinical medical research center for geriatric diseases (pla general hospital) jointly released a multi-center clinical report on geriatric diseases in china, the largest population in the country so far. in china, it was the first to put forward that geriatric comorbiditis is the focus of geriatric medicine diagnosis and treatment and multi-disciplinary integrated care (mdt) model; the study proposes to establish and improve the disease prevention and control system of the elderly from five dimensions: comprehensive assessment of the elderly, clinical treatment, nutrition intervention, rehabilitation care and hospice care. led the writing of more than 30 expert consensus/guidelines related to geriatric diseases, and promoted their use in domestic collaborative network units; it has formulated and published 32 group standards, including the "standard for geriatric outpatient service", "standard for geriatric friendly service" and "standard for geriatric nurse".
